Location 3400 South Point Drive,Blacksburg, VA, 24060,United States Base Pay $95,000.00 - $110,000.00 / Year Employee Type Full Time Description The Director of Health and Wellness work closely with Regional Director of Care and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of resident health and wellness within the community. This role ensures high-quality care, regulatory compliance, and a person -centered approach to services. The Director works in collaboration with community leadership as a resource when dealing with clinical concerns from residents or responsible parties, including families, healthcare providers, and staff, while supervising and supporting nursing and caregiving teams. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS : Minimum of 3–5 years of supervisory experience in senior living, assisted living, or healthcare setting. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills . Compassion for and experience working with older adults, including those with memory impairment. Must pass criminal background check and meet all health requirements. Summary RESPONSIBILITIES – Included but not limited to : Leadership & Supervision Direct and manage the health and wellness department, schedules, staff time management, including nurses, medication technicians, caregivers, and memory care staff. Oversee scheduling, staffing patterns, and performance evaluations for care staff. Coordinate staff training, in-service education, and compliance with company policies and state regulations. Demonstrate and act as an ambassador of company core values. Resident Care Management Ensure individualized care plans are developed, implemented, and updated as required by company policy and state specific regulatory agencies. Monitor residents’ health status, respond promptly to changes, and communicate with physicians and families. Supervise medication administration processes, including ordering, storage, documentation, and audits. Maintain accurate and confidential resident records in compliance with regulatory standards. When urgent clinical, safety, or regulatory issues arise, the Director of Health and Wellness may exercise professional judgment to implement and document interim risk‑mitigation measures to protect residents and staff when formally approved clinical guidance is not yet available. Notify in writing Executive Director and Regional leadership when interim measures are implemented. Interim measures should be narrowly tailored, time‑limited, and reviewed regularly until permanent guidance is approved. Memory Care Oversight Provide leadership and support for memory care programs, ensuring specialized care for residents with cognitive impairment. Train and mentor staff in dementia care best practices. Maintain accurate and up to date clinical chart documentation as required by company policy and regulatory agencies . In partnership with key leadership, a ct as a liaison between residents, families, and healthcare providers to address concerns and coordinate services. Partner with home health agencies, hospice providers, and other external care partners. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to ensure resident satisfaction and wellbeing. Any other tasks or duties assigned and support for other departments as needed. Infection Control & Safety Participate in infectious disease mitigation training, including proper PPE use, sanitization procedures, and standard precautions. Practice proper hand hygiene and wear gloves when exposure to bodily fluids is possible. Store soiled linens in closed containers and assist with laundry duties as assigned. Maintain neat, clean attire and practice good personal hygiene. Training & Meetings Attend , support, and assist with training as needed. Attend all mandatory staff meetings and in-service training sessions. Participation in regional quality improvement initiatives and support continuity of care delivery across communities Regulatory & Safety Compliance Ensure adherence to all health regulations, infection control protocols, and safety procedures. Serve as a mandated reporter for adult abuse and maintain vigilance for resident safety issues. Respond to emergencies and participate in disaster preparedness plans. Physical & Working Conditions: Subject to frequent interruptions and emergency callbacks. Other Duties Participate in admissions process and care planning for new residents. Assist in special projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Administrator. With Assistance: up to 100 lbs. or more. Ability to work in environments with low or bright lighting, loud noise, strong odors, variable temperatures (hot or cold), and potential exposure to infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and other health-related risks Efficiently and effectively manage unpredictable schedules, distractions, changes of pace or priorities, on a regular basis Ability to read, write, communicate and follow directions in English Ability to remain calm under stress and diffuse potential conflicts Must be accurate , dependable, and thorough in all assigned tasks Ability to prepare for & tolerate exposure to outdoor elements as duties may require DRIVER RESPONSIBILITIES/CLEAN MVR REQUIRED: Yes PERFORMANCE MEASURES : -Meet general and specific Key Performance Indicators and associated industry or community metrics as leadership assigns and deems defining of success -Adjust to changing or evolving metrics accordingly REGULATORY COMPLIANCE : Employees in this role must follow the directives below, depending on their assigned state licensed community: Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and licensing requirements for senior living services (independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care). Honor resident rights and follow all established protocols for care, safety, and service delivery. Maintain required education, certifications , and credentials. Participate in audits, inspections, and quality assurance initiatives. Promptly report any incidents or compliance concerns to the appropriate supervisor .
